11-14-02 - A group of 12 friends from MIU:2--Making It Up...As We Go Along meet for dinner at Theo Roll's apartment to discuss forming a new improv group to continue performing after MIU:2 ends. Sarah Turner comments on the mood of the evening, opining that "This feels like a family dinner." The name sticks; a group is formed:

12-17-02 - FD takes the stage for the first time, at the True Brew Cafe in New Orleans' Warehouse District.
1-24-03 - FD's Baton Rouge debut, at Perks Coffee & Tea. Admission is free; over 100 people attend; the show lasts less than an hour. Bi-weekly shows at Perks ensue.
4-30-03 - The Family Dinner's 10th show, at the LSU Union Theater, with The Second City!

11-4&5-05 - The Family Dinner's 100th show. It began at noon 11-4-05 at the LSU Union Colonnade. At 9:00 pm, half the group left and went to Perks to begin performing the second of three legs of the show. For approximately 30 minutes, we were performing simultaneously at two locations. By 11:00pm, the entire group was at Perks until 7:00am 11-5-05, when half of us returned to the Colonnade for the final leg. By 8:00am, we were all back on the LSU Campus, where we performed until 4:00pm. The show lasted 28 hours and raised over $5000 for Hurricane Katrina relief. It was also the third longest improv show of all time. Performers included:
